St. Tropez

My love affair is still on.  St. Tropez sunless tanning products continue to dazzle me.  After my initial review, they were kind enough to send me the Wash Off Instant Glow for the Face and Body, the Self Tanning Body Spray and the Application Mitt to try.  The Application Mitt is a simple looking two sided, razor thin foam fingerless glove.  It is deceptively brilliant.  Product goes on seamlessly, quickly and most importantly, evenly;  no, even more importantly, tidily.

Do Not Bite for Bitten

Dud Alert!!!:
I love the concept of  cheek and lip stains.  The allure of a sheer wash of color creating a natural flush appeals to me.  I have tried stains from Benefit, Stila and CoverGirl.  CG has done the best job of creating more natural shades, other than pomegranate and mango.  The pitfall with them is the "D" word, dry on the lips, dry in the the felt tip applicator, rendering an abysmally short shelf life.

Because We Are All Worth It

Last week,  the New York Times ran an interesting article on the reality perception, that French women age more gracefully than their American  counterparts, ("Aging Gracefully the French Way").    My friend Ginger, thought my thoughts on the subject might make for an interesting Blog.  Like most women, I am a little awed by French women.  Here's my take on taking a page from their livre.

Me and ET

I heard from my friend Dr. Elizabeth Chabner Thompson the other day.   "We are having a special on Radiesse on August 12th.  Do you think your readers might be interested" ???... "Sure!!!  Tell me more and may I pick your brains  a bit too"???..."Of course", she replied.  Thus, another in my series of interviews with the beautiful beautifier Dr. Elizabeth Chabner Thompson.

One Woman's Story

I would never wish a breast cancer diagnosis on anyone.  It is a life altering before and after fact, that forever changes the fabric of your life.  I have however, met amazing people through this journey; surgeons, survivors, "previvors" and scores of women who fund raise for organizations that I hold dear,  The Ashkikari Breast Center ,  The Breast Cancer Alliance of Greenwich and the internet support group that was my life line, Force.

It's been a lovely month!  I was asked  by Dr. Roy Ashkari,  to Chair the Ashikari Breast Center's April 2011 Gala.  Most kindly, I will also be their Honoree.  I was also asked by the President of the Breast Cancer Alliance, Margaret Sinclaire,  to be featured with my survivor's story.  Trust me when I tell you, there is no way to refuse either of these powerhouses!!!  Truly, I am grateful to them and honored to be asked.  Below is a copy of One Woman's Story: Debbi O'Shea, as it appears in their Summer 2010 Newsletter:

Every experience is unique, but the things you learn as a result of surviving a cancer diagnosis are often shared. Know this: you cannot face your mortality without realigning your priorities...things change, quickly but often for the better.

Shampoo, Lather, Rinse, Repeat...

I have never been one to shell out big bucks on shampoos or conditioners.  I have of course purchased and sampled  high end products.  I've just  never achieved results  that for me, justify the spike.  I think Nexxus does a great job, and I am always comfortable with the value.   I have also happily used Pantene, Garnier and Loreal and rarely come away disappointed.   I have zero luck with Dove hair care and  recently got middling results their Frizz Control Shampoo with Patented Micro Moisture Serum...meh.

A Trial Offer

In my last Blog, (Does This Tutu Make My Butt Look Big?), I wrote about two websites, Fashism  and Go Try It On, that feature average Joe's and Joanna's uploading pictures of themselves and asking for fashion and beauty advice, from strangers.   My friends and clients often 911 me asking for help, which I never find intrusive, more sweetly flattering...It occurred to me that I could offer this same "service" to my DivaDebbi readers!  After all, we are not exactly strangers, are we???

Does This TuTu Make My Butt Look Big???

In this Thursday's Style section of the New York Times,  they reported on two interactive  fashion websites, Fashism  and Go Try It On,  that were not on my radar.  The premise of both are similar;   people, seeking fashion advice, upload pictures of themselves and ask the viewers to rate and comment on their outfits.  What???   I feel a new obsession coming on...

Lash Wars

In the last few days, everyone, everywhere, has commented on my lashes.  My lash enhancement history is a little checkered, so for those who are newbies,  I will digress...

Did You Get a Brazilian???

I asked this question, innocuously, to one of my
girlfriends at a recent outdoor dinner party...all the men within earshot, swiveled their heads around and stared at me,  mouth's agape.   NO!!!   Not that Brazilian,  you Neanderthals...the Keratin based hair straightening treatment.  (In fairness, who can blame them...couldn't they have come up with another name not already associated with our choo choo's)?

The Royal Treatment

Kielhs,  has been creating and selling lotions and potions since 1851.  Their stores, (more like body pharmacies),  are staffed with knowledgeable sellers who are definitely swilling  the Kielh's Kool-Aid,  with every meal.  The only product I have ever purchased was Kiehl's Silk Groom,  after being sucked in by the lore that Silk Groom would make my mane as silky as a Thoroughbred's tail...uh NO.  Lank and greasy are the adjectives that pop back into scalp mind.
